Astrological aspects and points, runic letters and personal charms — the part of the catalogue where the marks are perfectly factual objects and what is claimed about them is not. What holds the group together is that every record has to separate three things: the geometry, which is fact (a trine is a triangle because three 120-degree arcs close a circle); the history, which is documented (the lunar nodes were tracked because eclipses happen there); and the interpretation, which is a claim within a system and is marked as such throughout. Two members refuse to settle a question their own tradition has not: which way a horseshoe hangs, and where 108 comes from.
