Symbolwise

Terms

Symbolwise is provided for educational and research purposes. Content is sourced and confidence-rated as described in our methodology, but is not a substitute for professional legal, medical, safety or trademark advice — see the disclaimers on individual symbol pages where relevant.

Rights differ by material type: Symbolwise-authored text and structured data, public-domain symbols, official definitions, and third-party sources or imagery we cite are governed by different rights — see enquiries & licensing. Nothing here implies Symbolwise owns material it does not.

Using the catalogue

You may read, quote and link to Symbolwise freely, with attribution. Bulk or automated extraction of the catalogue, and re-publishing it as a competing dataset, are not permitted without agreement — the enquiries route exists for exactly that conversation, and the answer is often yes.

Accuracy, and what to do when we are wrong

Every record states its evidence and how confident we are in it, and some record openly that a meaning is disputed or that a symbol's origin is unknown. We aim to be accurate and we will be wrong sometimes. If you find an error, the correction route reaches an editor directly. Symbolwise is offered as-is, and decisions with legal, safety or commercial consequences should rest on the primary sources each record cites rather than on our summary of them.

Liability

Symbolwise is a reference work offered for education and research. It is provided as-is, and HEKNO Ltd does not accept liability for loss arising from reliance on it — particularly where a decision carries legal, safety, regulatory or commercial consequences. Each record cites its sources precisely so that such decisions can rest on those primary sources rather than on our summary of them.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Who we are, and which law applies

Symbolwise is operated by HEKNO Ltd. These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the law of Scotland, United Kingdom, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.

Questions about these terms go to hello@symbolwise.app. If we change them materially we will say so on this page rather than change them quietly.
