Circular symbols
Symbols built on a circular or enclosed form, from intellectual-property marks to hazard trefoils and peace signage. Several are a single letter inside a ring, a construction that carries no shared meaning — the enclosure marks the letter as a symbol rather than as text, and what it then means depends entirely on the letter and the context.
Copyright symbol
A capital C inside a circle (©), used to indicate a claim of copyright in a work.
Registered trademark symbol
A superscript capital R inside a circle (®), used only for marks formally registered with a national trademark office.
Biohazard symbol
A trefoil of overlapping circles, designed to be instantly recognisable as a warning for biological hazards.
Peace symbol
A circle enclosing a vertical line and two downward diagonal lines, originally designed for the British nuclear disarmament movement.
Circle-A anarchy symbol
A capital letter A, its legs extending slightly past a surrounding circle, used internationally as a symbol of anarchism.
