The keys that move the insertion point or remove text, and the lock keys that latch a mode. Almost every one is drawn as an arrow whose meaning is carried by what stops it: an arrow arrested at a bar jumps to a boundary, an arrow with a bar above it moves by a whole screen, an arrow containing a cross erases. Reading the group as a system makes each individual mark predictable, which is not true of any of them read alone.
