Letters after a year saying which era it counts from.
Also known as: BCE notation, AD BC, Era marking
A year needs an era: AD and BC count from a traditional date for the birth of Christ, CE and BCE use the same numbering with religiously neutral names, and AH, AM and other systems count from different events entirely. CE and AD are the same numbers with different labels, which is the point most often missed.
States which era a year is counted in, since the same numeral names different years in different systems.

Uses CE and BCE for the same numbering as AD and BC under religiously neutral names, so the two pairs are interchangeable in value.

Includes systems counting from different events entirely, such as AH from the Hijra and AM from a traditional creation date, which are not convertible by adding a constant across the whole range.
