The Cartesian product sign builds a new set whose members are ordered pairs: one element from the left set, one from the right. The order matters, which is the point most often missed — A cross B and B cross A are different sets unless the two are equal.
Forms the set of all ordered pairs whose first entry comes from the left set and second from the right.
