Darts scoring is written as a letter and a number: T20 for treble twenty, D16 for double sixteen, S5 for a single five, with the two bull scores written separately. Behind it sits the board's number order, which is not sequential and not random: the high numbers are flanked by low ones so that a slightly missed high scorer is heavily punished. That arrangement is why 20 sits between 1 and 5, and it is the reason accuracy rather than aim at a big number decides matches.
A capital letter followed immediately by one or two numerals, written on a scoresheet beside a circular board divided into narrow radial segments.
