A locomotive. Unusual among occupational motifs in being datable from the carving itself — engine types changed quickly — and strongly associated with monuments to railway accidents as well as to individual careers.

Datable from the carving in a way most occupational motifs are not: locomotive types changed rapidly, so an accurately depicted engine narrows the period and sometimes the company.
