Poker notation writes a card as a rank followed by a suit letter — Ah, Kd, 7c, 2s — so a hand fits on one line. Starting hands add a further letter: AKs means ace-king of the same suit and AKo means ace-king of different suits, and the difference is worth several percentage points of equity. A hand written without either letter, such as AA, is a pair, where the question does not arise. The notation is universal online and almost never explained.
A capital letter or numeral for the rank followed immediately by a single lower-case letter for the suit, with a further lower-case letter sometimes appended.
The shorthand stands in for the suit symbols.
