One group name over another separated by a slash, collapsing a subgroup to a point.
Also known as: Factor group notation, G mod N, Quotient notation
G/N reads as 'G modulo N' and means the group you get by treating everything in N as if it were the identity. The notation looks like division and is not: it only makes sense when N is normal, and that condition is invisible in the symbol.
Denotes the quotient of a group by a normal subgroup, its elements the cosets of that subgroup.

Requires the divisor to be a normal subgroup; the notation is undefined otherwise and the slash gives no warning.

Is read 'G mod N' aloud, borrowing the vocabulary of modular arithmetic, which is the same construction on the integers.

Two capital letters separated by a forward slash, the slash a single diagonal stroke.
