A stylised sprout icon certifying that packaging meets the EN 13432 standard for industrial compostability.
Also known as: Compostable logo
A European Bioplastics trademark, certified by independent bodies (DIN CERTCO; TÜV Austria Belgium), meaning a product will disintegrate under controlled industrial composting conditions — not that it is home-compostable, recyclable, or safe to litter.
Certifies that the product/packaging meets EN 13432 requirements for industrial composting — disintegrating under controlled conditions of temperature, moisture and time into water, biomass and CO2 — verified by third-party certifiers, not a self-declared claim.
Does not mean home-compostable, recyclable in standard streams, or biodegradable in open/landfill environments — those are separate, distinct claims.
