A solid outline round a piece.
Also known as: Pattern outline, Cut edge line
The sewing pattern line showing where the fabric is cut, as distinct from where it is sewn.
Lies outside the stitching line by the seam allowance, so the two lines on a pattern are a fixed distance apart and neither can be read for the other. The catalogue holds the seam allowance line; this is the cut edge.
Contexts: Technical drawing
A solid unbroken line running round the outside of the pattern piece.
