A white tick in a filled circle beside an account name. What it certifies has changed: originally that a platform had confirmed the holder's identity, and on some services now only that a subscription is being paid — so the same mark no longer means the same thing everywhere.
Marks an account that the platform has designated verified, shown immediately after the display name.

Originally certified that the platform had confirmed the account holder was who they claimed to be — introduced to combat impersonation of public figures.
No longer means the same thing across services. On some platforms the badge is now attached to a paid subscription rather than to an identity check, so the same mark certifies different things depending on where it appears.
A live and platform-specific difference. A reader should not assume a badge means an identity has been checked without knowing which service it is on.
