One folded shape and many colours. The group exists to say the thing no individual ribbon can: the colours are administered by nobody, several are claimed by more than one cause, and a ribbon's meaning outside the best-known few is genuinely ambiguous. The poppy is included because it is worn the same way and for a related purpose, and because what it expresses is itself disputed. The two pride flags are flown rather than worn, but they are here for the same reason: a colour scheme carrying an identity, with a designer and a date rather than an authority.
