A crossed-out wheeled bin symbol, sometimes marked with Pb, Cd or Hg, required on batteries under EU law to signal separate collection.

Mandated under the EU Battery Directive (2006/66/EC), reusing the same crossed-out-bin base pictogram as the WEEE symbol; batteries above set thresholds of mercury, cadmium or lead must additionally show the relevant chemical symbol beneath the bin.
Indicates the battery must be collected separately from general waste due to hazardous-substance content or recovery value, rather than disposed of with municipal rubbish; the accompanying chemical letters are a content disclosure, not a design or quality claim.

Chemical-symbol variant
When a battery exceeds specified thresholds of mercury (0.0005%), cadmium (0.002%) or lead (0.004%), the relevant chemical symbol (Hg, Cd, Pb) is printed beneath the bin at least one quarter its area.
