A staff read as a kit.
Also known as: Drum kit notation, Percussion staff notation, Drum tab
The percussion notation assigning staff positions to the pieces of a drum kit rather than to pitches.
Cymbals are written with cross heads so that the two families are distinguishable at a glance without reading the line positions.
Contexts: Music
Assigns each line and space of the staff to a piece of the drum kit.
Contexts: Music
Borrows the staff's geometry while discarding its meaning: vertical position is instrument rather than pitch, so a drummer reads the same shape a pianist does and takes something entirely different from it.
Contexts: Music
A five-line staff with note heads on assigned lines and spaces for each drum, cymbals written as crosses rather than round heads.
