A trapezoid narrowing towards the output, with select inputs.
Also known as: Mux, Data selector, Trapezoid with select lines, Multiplexer
A multiplexer picks one of several inputs and passes it to a single output, with select lines choosing which. The trapezoid's taper is the notation doing real work: the wide end has many inputs and the narrow end has one, so the shape shows the direction of the funnelling.
Denotes a multiplexer: a selector passing one of several data inputs to a single output under the control of select lines.
Contexts: Electrical equipment
Is drawn as a trapezoid whose taper indicates the direction of selection, wide side to inputs and narrow side to output.

Needs n select lines to choose between 2ⁿ inputs, which is why multiplexers come in powers of two.

A four-sided figure with parallel vertical left and right edges of unequal length, the taller on the left carrying several input lines and the shorter on the right one output.
