A long rectangle with SRG and a stage count.
Also known as: Shift register, SRG, Serial register, Long box with SRG
A shift register moves its stored bits one place along at every clock edge, and the IEC label SRG followed by a number gives the number of stages. It is how serial data becomes parallel and back again, which is the basis of every serial interface.
Denotes a shift register: a chain of flip-flops passing each stored bit to the next on every clock edge.
Contexts: Electrical equipment
Is labelled SRG followed by the stage count in the IEC 60617 scheme, so SRG8 is an eight-bit register.
Contexts: Electrical equipment
Converts between serial and parallel data, which is what makes serial communication interfaces possible.
Contexts: Electrical equipment
A tall narrow rectangle bearing the letters SRG and a numeral, with clock and data inputs on the left and several outputs on the right.
