A dot beneath a line, asking for separated but sustained notes.
Also known as: Louré, Mezzo staccato
A dot combined with a horizontal line over a note asks for notes separated but still sustained — between staccato and legato. The two marks together mean something neither means alone, which is unusual in articulation notation.
Combines the staccato dot and the tenuto line to ask for notes that are separated but held for most of their value.
Contexts: Music
Means something neither component means on its own, so it cannot be read by reading the two marks in turn.
Contexts: Music
